The full story
I had my eyes set on acting in Toronto, but after training for so long my heart needed some freedom so I followed a rising passion for drag into the next phase of my life. I'd make a mess, make a look, and hopefully make a few bucks on Church Street.
My main mission was to become the characters I drew in my sketchbooks but when flowing locks weren’t in the budget I began exploring the unconventional. As a result, my first yarnwig was born and the clubs went wild!
Big highs lead to big lows in Toronto as I struggled to keep afloat. Wigs took a backseat as I relocated to Calgary for work but eventually I had to scratch the itch. Inspiration lead to breakdowns which lead to innovations like ventilating and eventually I made yarn hair my signature look.
From Calgary to Vancouver I shared my art on stage and online and gained quite a following which got me into the audition room when the Arts Club needed a emergency replacement for Kinky Boots.
Theatre and drag collided as I moved back on stage with Kinky Boots, Starwalker and Papa Penguine.
Making yarn wigs taught me so much.
How to be inventive, how to persist when things get difficult and how rewarding it can be to share what I learn.
