Now I half knew that the band, the Gorillaz had a place in my heart but I didn't realize I had been drawing the bass players fingers for years until I made this blog. I guess it slipped my mind.

A leaky memory isn't all bad though. sometimes an idea needs to fall out of consciousness to truly take root...
Inspiration settles in the mind, new experiences cover it like earth and like any good cheese, it gets better with time. proof of it's roots surface from time to time until eventual fruiting bodies spring up on to sketchbook pages, voice notes... telling you, an idea is ready.
I happened to be in a sculpting mode when this green finger idea showed up full blast, thus Ogre Toes were born.
I'm super happy with the sculpt and the paint style. I took inspiration from some amazing cell-shaded projects like Into the Spider-verse, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game, Mutants in Manhattan and the amazing model painter, LYK Repaint. https://amazingmodel.top/en-ca

Incredibly graphic, digital yet tactile with that mix of uneasy fascination one gets when looking at a live bug under a glass cup.
Putting the magnets on was a last minute idea and seeing that gnarly toe on the fridge was so cool. And would you believe me if I said I forgot I had intended to make fridge magnets a week before I did this?
I made three and two went to my nephews for Christmas. I'd love to make more but I'm on to new things. maybe i'll come back to it.
