made this little something while working on Teenage Fever so the chords are the same.
It's not mixed well but I cooked and finished it before the vibe got cold. Long live Jessica, this song is underrated and Pink Diamond is pure Charli.
Some hits age like wine and With You is one of those. The production is so good in the original track and the bass entrance in verse 2 is truly delicious. Love how it takes a Dark Child beat and lays it over that Max Marten early 00's fresh out of the shower, white robe billowing in the wind pop sound. And if I can gush about Charli for a moment... She knows how to say things with words that bypass my ears and go straight to my body. I have a theory about lyrics... Words are like foods. The mind breaks them down before comprehending them just like the body does. Complex words are like complex carbs, they take longer to digest. Where lot's of lyrics fail is in how dense they are or how simple they are. One way the brain hasn't finished chewing before the next info is dumped, the other way it's predictable and requires no engagement to comprehend. Charlie has an amazing ability to understand exactly what words to use to keep the listener's understanding of the words in perfect time with the music.
When this balance is achieved you stop listening and start moving. Lyrics that hit that perfect balance evoke rather than tell, they reach beyond the analytical into the experiential. They bypass the critical mind an enter the visual centre.
